TAG: Inspiration and motivation to do better. BE better.

I don't know if I'm the right person to talk about this topic, because I myself am seeking this.

But after some consideration i've decided that I am.

1th September. School becomes too much. Too many doctor appointments, I can't cope with everything.

22th September. I have Cholesteatoma (Ear tumor)

27th September. I get diagnosed with a mental illness.

1th October. Operation day. Time to remove my Cholesteatoma. One of the last things I said to my mother was that I did not wan't to wake up again, I was done.

1th October. I woke up.

And after this point on I was just a total wreck.
I saw no light anymore.

Yes I hit my wall.

But I managed to come up step by step. I'm not saying that I'm totally recovered. I still think about that tumor a lot. I still have a very hard time coping with school, I did after all miss 4 whole months.

I used to be that girl who gave everything. Everything I did had to be perfect. I was a happy girl. My smile never faltered, no matter what I went trough in my life.

Finding that spirit is the hardest thing I've ever done in my whole life. I haven't found it completely yet but I'm close.

In life you will be tested. You will be tested over and over again. You will wonder WHY ME? WHY does it have to be you.
Hearing that I have a tumor is the hardest thing I've ever had to hear.
WHY ME?

I'm sorry to say that we'll never know why. It just happens.

People wanted me to feel better,  my best friends would literally ask me over and over again if I wanted to do something,  they always came back, no matter how many times I said no. Friends at school would tell me how much they miss me and want me back etc. But if I'm not motivated to come back I won't that's how we work. With help from my psychologist I started fighting a horrible battle against myself.  We worked on finding joy again. Find happiness in life, be motivated to live. And I did. Start small. Start seeing the beautiful in small everyday stuff. Begin somewhere. Take inspiration to your heart.

Everyone have their own mountains to climb.
We got to climb them. We can't stop.

When your on the ground you only see sticks and stones. Things that want to break you. Looking up at the mountain you see nothing but clouds. You can't see what's at the top of the mountain. It's clouded.

So you have to climb that mountain to find out what it is. At first you might do it because it feels better than being surrounded by everything that can break you. But the father up you come the easier it get's to see things from another perspective. The view from where you are now is actually pretty nice. What would it be like at the top of the mountain? You don't know, but out of curiosity you climb up. You climb up to the top. Because you want to see what the view is from there. You might slip on your way but just brush it off and continue.
The view from the top is beautiful is it not?

The same with life. Just because you don't see the top doesn't mean it's not there, and it's probably the most beautiful thing you'll ever see once you are there.

So keep fighting. Do better. Be better. Life is what we make it. I've learned that we can't control everything, but we just have to make the best out of our situation. We must never quit fighting for a happier life.

MY WEEK

Monday
I had to wake up at a inhuman hour because our school decided to put a new class BEFORE our first morning class. But to all fairness I have to say it was quite fun.

After school I went to the gym, arm-day I believe

My motivation at the gym.

Tuesday
I had A LOT of work to do this day with Divergent (If you didn't know I work together with the Swedish Divergent movie team :) ) I had to pick  three lucky winners who would win cinema tickets to see the movie in March and the book, And there were over 400 entries.
And because of earlier stress I got fever during lunch time :(

Wednesday
Sick :( I couldn't cancel my driving lesson so I had to go there anyway. Fortunately it was on the evening.
I'm becoming really good at driving! Driving in Sweden is probably easier than in other countries because we are only 9.5 million people here, but the all the rules make me crazy!

Thursday
Did some homework and I had this A M A Z I N G smoothie that tasted soo good (AND HEALTHY!)

¤ 1/2 cup berries of choice
¤ 1 teaspoon vanilla powder
¤ 2 1/2 tbs water
¤ 2 1/2 tbs milk
BLEND (mixer)
The browny thing is nutella

Friday
I had no classes this day so I took this day to read the book I was currently reading, had breakfast in bed and just a cozy morning <3
When evening came I went over to Marias place and then we headed over to our friends 18th birthday dinner! I had a wonderful time <3
Pictures from my friend Elins blog

Saturday
Woke up at Marias place, had breakfast, went home and practiced my driving with mum

Sunday
Homework ALL DAY I'm not even kidding.

Born Wicked The Cahill Witch Chronicles #1 (Farlig Förmåga) REVIEW

Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1)By Jessica Spotswood
Pages: 330
Publisher: Putnam Juvenile

Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they’re witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.

Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word... especially after she finds her mother’s diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family’s destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.

If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren’t safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood—not even from each other

Well, this one sure took me a while to finish. Give or take one month.
In the beginning I had a very hard time grasping what era we were in. No explanation on that until 50 pages, and that is frustrating. I like knowing which era I'm in thank you very much.

Cate is a strong protagonist, she questions everything things other people don't which will get her into great danger, but it does serve her good too. She doesn't let a man control her like the other women in town do.

But at times she can be a real pain in the bum. She seems to think she needs to share everything  with her sisters, and she feels like a bad sister if she does not. I did not get that. Why would you have to tell them everything?

This is a book about witches, and if you ask me it have some dystopian elements, and I think that made it a bit more boring. No real colors in this book that made my reality a tad bit more colorful. I mean, Sweden looks like a white mess at this moment.

I think this book is the first book in a trilogy. I did't like this one so much but I might check out the second book. They just translated it to Swedish.

How to read faster

Taken from wikihow.com

Let's get real. How many of us start to study for big tests waaaay to late? Yeah me too.
Here are some tips to become a faster reader

1. Eliminate vocalization or sub-vocalization as you read (sounding out the words either out loud or in your head). Vocalization will dramatically reduce yourreading speed as your lips need time to sound out each word. However, while eliminating vocalization will increase your speed, it will most likely decrease your comprehension, so there is a small trade-off initially (until you grasp some of the other techniques).

2. Instead of reading word by word, read in chunks of words, or even full sentences. The longer you spend on each word the more slowly you read, so it is important to read phrases of multiple words so as to increase your speed. Slow readers often take long pauses between words, thus slowing them down. Try practicing on a newspaper with columns that are four or five words wide, so as to get a better sense of reading in chunks of text.
  • Don't pause for periods and commas, just read all the way through.

3. Try to lightly skim the text either before or after reading it. Read only a few words per line and try to glean a general meaning out of the text. Skimming before reading will help introduce you to the topic and the author's purpose and will help you read faster. Skimming after reading will allow you to draw key points out of particularly dense or hard to read material.
  • Keep in mind the focus of the given text and what the author is trying to achieve. Doing this will often help keep your mind on track.

4. Don't reread text that you have already read. Doing so will only disrupt your brain's flow and will slow you down.

5. Be realistic about how much faster you can read before losing the meaning. For many, faster reading will result in a loss of at least some comprehension, so it is important to balance speed and comprehension so as to maximize reading efficiency.

6. Choose a particular method to help you learn to read faster. As you get better at the method, try moving your placeholder faster and see if your eyes can keep up and remember to try to keep both your eyes and your placeholder moving in one constant motion. A list of methods you might like to try follows after this step.
  • It is recommended that you try all of the different methods to see what works best for you or what works best in your given situation.

Good luck, break that test!

How to get free ebooks if you are a blogger

Let's face it, books are expensive.
And if you are a reviewer it can be even more expensive, because we often feel the need to read and review new books all the time.

What you might not know is that publishers value your reviews  A LOT. Especially if you have at least 1000 readers/ month.
Many publishers will send you a ebook because every time you write about their book you are promoting it. Doesn't matter if it's a negative or positive review.

This applies on Goodreads reviewers too. If you have reviewed 100 books and have a lot of subsribers/ friends publishers will want to send you books too.

But the real question is; How do they know about you?
Easy, you just make yourself an account at Netgalley.com !
Netgalley is a great site where publishers put up books they wan't reviewers to read and review before it comes out, and if you wan't to read the book you just press the "request this" button and they'll look into your profile and either decline or accept your request.

Words longest dutch-braid?

School was ok today, I have a SUPER EARLY class on Mondays which makes me question why I choose to exist in a world that's clearly just here to make me go nuts with the years.

I was bored and my friend Elvira or I  (I don't remember) came up with this crazy idea of braiding some friends hair together. As crazy as I am I started to search for hair models at once and found a few in just seconds, I'm pretty happy with the outcome, but I would be lying if I said that it wasn't hard. Two of the girls have so fine hair that it was almost impossible to braid it together.

From left: Elvira, Julia, Evelina, Sandra and Carin!
That guy in the background with a cap is my English teacher, I think he wears that cap to blend in with the teens ;)

My favorite series.

Vampire Academy
The hot rumors about me not shipping Dimitri and Rose.
I  can confirm that that is true.
But nonetheless I still think that Vampire Academy is the best completed book series.

I was hooked from book one. By writing about vampires during the twilight time she took a huge risk, because personally for me, I just atomatically compared every single vampire book with Twilight, and at that time, nothing bet it. But then Vampire Academy came and I threw my Twilight books out the windows!
(no not really, I'm looking at them right now).

What made me love it as much as I did was all the action and the drama. Something was always happening, someones life was always in great danger etc. The thrill was just fantastic.

I do think that every single book in the series was amazing, and that is indeed something unique.

If you haven't read the Vampire Academy series yet and you are looking for a fantasy book with action and some romance in it you should give this one a try!

Movie coming out this year

Physical books VERSUS Ebooks

Let's get right to it.

PHYSICAL BOOKS VERSUS EBOOKS

- You can cuddle with your physical book and pretend it's your boyfriend/girlfriend YAY
~ You can't do that with Ebooks. unless you want a very thin and short boyfriend/girlfriend then go ahead.

- You are allowed to read 50 shades of Grey on a Ebook.
~ You are not allowed to read it as a physical book because people will give you THE LOOK

- Physical books are so beautiful to look at it's almost painful, just seeing your collection grow makes us feel completed.
~ You can 315 books on your Ebook reader and no one would know.

- Ebooks are PORTABLE, you can travel with 2000 books in your jacket pocket if you wish to.
~ We've all had to decide between taking those nice jeans or a extra book with us on our vacation at one point.

- Ebook readers usually have this build in light that let's us read long after bedtime.
~ ... Physical books don't

- Physical books have infinite battery time <3
~ EBOOKS DON'T DAMMIT

- When a new book comes out you can get it DIRECTLY at 00.00 to your E reader
~ But you can't always get a book at that time in the bookstore so sometimes you ACTUALLY HAVE TO SLEEP AND GO IN THE MORNING

You should watch PolandandbananasBOOKS EBOOK VS REAL BOOKS video because she is awesome and we like awesome people.

City of Heavenly Fire cover !

It's out! It's ACTUALLY out!!!!
I can't believe this is the LAST book in the Mortal Instruments series, the last.

On the cover we see Sebastian and Clary, both with weapons and Clary is wearing white! As we know, white is associated with death and mourning in the shadowhunter world and Cassandra confirmed that she is going to wear white at one point in the book.

I don't even want to think about who's funeral it is.

I hope Sebastians.

What do you think about the cover?

Just a little motivation kick :)

Hi loves!
How are you all feeling today?

Things might be tough right now, maybe things aren't workin our for you and everything seems to go in the wrong direction but it's not. I'm always here, and I'm here to tell you that things will get better. Just hang in there love. I've been there, there IS light at the end of the tunnel. I wish you all the best with what you might have coming your way and remember; I believe in you <3

The Jungle Book VS. The Scarlet Letter.

And so the battle between two classic novels begin.

I have to read a classical novel for my English class. Even though books from the 1800 aren't really my thing I'm not complaining.

I'm supposed to review the book afterwards, and we all know that I could probably review a book in my sleep, but this review requires more... thinking. I need to dig deep and really analyze it; I have to think about political issues too and how this book might have reflected the society etc.

My English teacher told me that The Jungle Book would be easier to analyze because it's about a boy who's been cut out from the society completely, and when he tries to be like the "normal people" he just can't because he's been growing up without all these norms etc. That is very topical if we look at our society, we are so far from our true nature that we possibly could be.

But then we have The Scarlet Letter on the other hand that's about this woman who sleeps with married men and the town makes her wear this letter on her jacket or something so that people know it's "that scandalous woman".
I REALLY want to read this book, because that book seems very scandalous and dangerous, and that makes me wan't to investigate it even more.

I don't know, I have a tough decision to make haha... either way I could always read the book I choose not to read this time on my spare time... since that's what I do. I read ahellova lot. And I love it.

Frozen ❄

If you haven't seen the movie Frozen yet you are MISSING OUT. That movie is so beautiful, I dare to say that it might even be better than Tangle.

Frozen  "Fearless optimist Anna teams up with Kristoff in an epic journey, encountering Everest-like conditions, and a hilarious snowman named Olaf in a race to find Anna's sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter."

This is not a typical disney movie in my opinion, I mean yes there are princesses and all that, but it's not typically a love story. It's more about the bond between sisters which they illustrated in a very powerful way. I loved the movie more than I thought that I will, and if you haven't seen it yet you need to see it ASAP. I really recommend it :)

Oh I almost forgot, the song "Let it Go" which is from the movie is AH-MAYSING. Demi Lovatos version is better though ;)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter #2) REVIEW

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2)
By J.K. Rowling
Pages: 341
Publisher: Levine Books
So much better than the first one I must say!
What a journey! This is the magic I've heard so much about, and wanting to take apart of, YES, AMAZING!
I feel like so much more made sense to me now, the movie doesn't bring all the aspects to light and that leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions, and books are just in general more detailed than movies.
I can totally see the chemistry between Ron and Hermione, it's so obvious!

A character that I did not quite like was actually Ginny Weasly. She is so weird, I always imagined her looking like this

every time Hary came around. I guess she will mature up when she gets older. Or at least I hope....

2014 will be a movie-blast

Vampire academy.
Divergent.
Mockingjay pt 1.
The fault in our stars.

Nope, I'm still calm, if you are hearing dying whale noises it's not from me, nope...

I don't know how I will survive this!  Everything is just MESSED up, this is too much in a year! And City of Heavinly fire (last book in the mortal instruments series) will also be released this year!

It's just too much for my poor little heart to handle.

I just want the movies to come out NOW all this waiting is making me crazy!

2014-01-08

A book i'd like to forget and read all over again so I can fall in love with it once more.

Clockwork Princess, no doubt.
Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)If you've followed me for a while you know that Clockwork Princess is one of my favorite books of all time.
It's the last book in the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare.
I loved it so much because no book ever have kept me going like that, I'm not kidding when I say that I thought that I would die because of all the feelings that book upraised within me. That book is just painfully beautiful and I  would love to read it again without knowing what would happen if I could.
