Beautiful Creatures

By: Kami Garcia

There were no surprises in Gatlin County.
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.

At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything

twiligt all over again, just this time, it's from a guys POV. he saw her, he fell in love with her, she is a bit shy, a bit different, BAM, she IS not like the other girls etc... see the connection? and to be honest with you guys, i do not LIKE to read about fake love , sure, some people believe in love at first sight, and really, why not, but love someone you haven't even MET? that's crazy dude. anyway, if you are in to that kind of things, give this book a try.
Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)

BTW, Happy Halloween people!

Sara Gruen - Water for elephants

As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.
I haven't read the book. Hopefully the book is just as good as the movie because it was one of the best movies I have ever seen! It was beautiful, so beautiful. Everything from the love to Rosie to the evil of August made the movie complete.
A movie that fits perfectly for a slumber party or just when you tired of shitty movies and want quality!
Rosie?

Day trip to Vällingby

I was in this huge secondhand-store today. It was auction and all going on. I can promise you, people were going crazy. Shouted loud and jumped high. Okay so I was getting a bit crazy too, but for another reason. They had so many books and they were so cheap! (Me gusta) I bought some books, six books to the price of 30 kr! They also had great fika! (swedish word that doesn't exist in any other langue (pronounced "fee-ka") it roughly means "to drink coffe/tea," usually accompanied by something sweet)
1. Jan Guillou - The Heritage of Arn (The Crusades #4)
2. Donna Woolfolk Cross - Pope Joan
3. Michelle Paver - Wolf brother (The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness 1#)
4. Jane Austen - Emma
5. Justina Robson - Keeping it Real
6. Holly Black - tithe
1. The Heritage of Arn
I have only read one book of Jan Guillou before and it was Ondskan (the Evil). It was enthralling and touching. I cried like, a lot. The title really describes what the book is about.
We have the three previous books in The Crusades Trilogy at home and I will read them as soon as possible so I can move on to the 4th.
The Road to Jerusalem (The Crusades 1#)
In 1150 Arn Magnusson is born to an aristocratic Swedish family and spends his childhood at the      Cistercian monastery of Varnhem where he is taught the best of spiritual and worldly learning. He is also trained to become a master archer and swordsman by the giant Brother Guilbert, a former knight. At  seventeen, equipped to become a monk or a warrior, Arn returns home, a young man and yet an innocent in the ways of the world. Two sisters cross his path: he is seduced by one yet falls deeply in love with the other. In loving the two sisters he has committed a serious crime and he is sentenced to serve twenty years as a Knight Templar in the Holy Land...

2. Pope Joan
For 1,200 years her existence has been denied. She is the legend that will not die--the woman who disguised herself as a man and sat for two years on the papal throne.
I am really exited about this book, have heard a lot good about it.

4. Emma
Beautiful, clever, rich - and single - Emma Woodhouse is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage. Nothing, however, delights her more than interfering in the romantic lives of others. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.
I have never read something from Jane Austen, bad huh? This is a real classic so I thought I'm   supposed to read it.

3. Wolf brother
Six thousand years ago. Evil stalks the land. Only twelve-year-old Torak and his wolf-cub companion can defeat it. Their journey together takes them through deep forests, across giant glaciers, and into dangers they never imagined.

5. Keeping it Real
The Quantum Bomb of 2015 changed everything. The fabric that kept the universe's different dimensions apart was torn and now the people of earth exist in uneasy company with inhabitants of the elfin, elemental, and demonic realms.

6. Tithe
Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms - a struggle that could very well mean her death.
From what I have heard Holly Black is supposed to be a really good author. I hope she lives up to her reputation.

Now when I thinking about it, almost all of the books is taking place a long time ago or in the future. Actually it's only Thite that's taking place in the present.
As you know I'm only guest blogging here. Was a bit skeptical in the beginning, but I like it! Thinking I would continue. What do you think of that?

Hugs!

AHMAAGAAD! Finally a weeks break from school!
Had the best day. Spend in school with friend and we were dressed as dolls, awesome? We won second price for best costume and makeup, wiieh!

But gosh saw the shittiest movie ever today. The movie Halloween. ARGH, it was so bad! Don't you ever see that movie, it was horrible. So bad done and no good story at all.

So I was thinking I would watch all the Lord of the rings again. Now when The Hobbit is soon in cinemas and all. But I really should read the books first. It was a while since I read a real fantasy book. I miss that. The nerd-mood you get into.

J.R.R - The Fellowships of the Ring, 1954
Frodo Baggins knew the Ringwraiths were searching for him - and the Ring of Power he bore that would enable Sauron to destroy all that was good in Middle-earth. Now it was up to Frodo and his faithful servant Sam to carry the Ring to where it could be detroyed - in the very center of Sauron's dark kingdom.

A typical fantasy book. And from what I have heard it's one of the best ever made. I borrowed it yesterday from the library. Really hope it will be as good as people says.

This might be the cutest and funniest clip ever.

Happy reading-halloween!

John Green - looking for alaska Review

before. Miles "Pudge" Halter's whole existence has been one big nonevent, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave the "Great Perhaps" (François Rabelais, poet) even more. He heads off to the sometimes crazy, possibly unstable, and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed-up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young, who is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart.
The book is split in two parts. Before and after. In the beginning that made me curious. I wanted to know what was in the middle! But when I realized what it was I became terribly sad. I just wanted to close the book sometimes because I thought it was unfair. But in the meantime I wanted to continue, cuz I was curious.  I think you might know the feeling, am I right? The main thing that took place in the book was totally unexpected. I really like that. You know when you think you what's gonna happen, and then you just get entirely blown of? If that's happens the writer is really good.

I really recommend this book. Read it!

The Elegance of the Hedgehog Review

We are in the center of Paris, in an elegant apartment building inhabited by bourgeois families. Renée, the concierge, is witness to the lavish but vacuous lives of her numerous employers. Outwardly she conforms to every stereotype of the concierge: fat, cantankerous, addicted to television. Yet, unbeknownst to her employers, Renée is a cultured autodidact who adores art, philosophy, music, and Japanese culture. With humor and intelligence she scrutinizes the lives of the building's tenants, who for their part are barely aware of her existence.
Then there's Paloma, a twelve-year-old genius. She is the daughter of a tedious parliamentarian, a talented and startlingly lucid child who has decided to end her life on the sixteenth of June, her thirteenth birthday. Until then she will continue behaving as everyone expects her to behave: a mediocre pre-teen high on adolescent subculture, a good but not an outstanding student, an obedient if obstinate daughter.
This book gets three out of five.
I really liked the philosophical observations during the whole book. I got to know how genius think. When you meet ultra smart people in real life it's hard to really understand them. But this book showed me the good sides and even the bad sides of having a overdeveloped brain.
In some parts of the book it's so much of the philosophical observations that I got a little tired of it. It took a while to like the book, in the beginning i just thought it was strange. The end is very dramatic,  but it's also a part of the beauty in the book.
But if you read it, don't stop. Finnish it, because it's worth it.

Becca Fitzpatrick

Uhm, feel like I'm writing a big deal about angels. Yesterday (maybe I didn't mentioned FALLEN was about angels? But I guess you maybe figured that out by the name) and now today. But I actually did't plan on doing so.

Finale release day!
Today Becca Fitzpatrick's 4'th book comes out. I will download it to my Sony Reader as soon as possible. I have read the previous books translated into swedish. And I usually don't like to change langue in the middle of book series. But my yearn is eating me up from inside! Literally. So I don't think I will be able to stop myself from read it. And really, why should I?

Review Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

After reading this book, I got some sort of major weakness for angels. Well I googled about fallen angels and I got really interested. And when a book does that, it's a good book. As I mentioned in my previous post. A sign of a bad book is when it doesn't leave you affected. And it's the same with a good book, when it leaves you with thoughts and really catch you it's good. But of course a book can leave you with bad affections too. So if a book is having a affection on you it's not always a criteria for a good book.

Gah! why am I even  babbling about this! I was supposed to do the book review. Oh no i'm going to scare away all of you from Lihini's blog. Oh please don't stop reading her blog because of me. That would give me such bad  conscience! I'm never having a blog. I had it once. Never gonna happen again.

The review, right.  As I said hush, hush really affected me. I really loved it. I loved how the story changed enough that the boy wants to get to the girl instead of the girl trying to get to the boy. I loved the story line; it kept me guessing throughout the whole book.
And Becca really know how to portraying characters. Like Vee for example. The friend on a diet based and sorted by colors. And Nora; stubborn, smart with a tough life. Plus, she gets a reward because she is not that weak female as you often can see in books. Well she is not tough and rough either. But she doesn't got the 'Bella-weaknes', and that's worth a lot. I'm not going to tell you more about the book. You will have to follow up on your own.

And if you haven't read it yet, I command you doing so!

Pardon me if i'm a bad blogger..

               Hugs // Linnea
